- A musician can, in creative terms, have more in common with a dancer or pictorial artist than with another musician or composer.

- In meeting with other creative artists one’s own choices and preferences undergo constant revision, which is invaluable for artistic development and in a broader sense also for personal development and for understanding reality.

- Music is something that has to be shared. It is all about communication, so it has to be alive, and that means that the concert format is still the most valuable form of sharing music.

- It is obvious that what I do relates to certain emotions when I use my voice in extreme ways, but when I perform, I have to go beyond that surface, be an observer; drawing on experience of emotions, yes, but to be able to use it musically you have to distance yourself from it, if not it becomes too one-dimensional. My aim is to show ambiguity and have various possible interpretations of the music floating at the same time.

- I play with the material and it talks back to me. It's a game between the boundaries of total control and total anarchy. I try to include some of both.

- Equipement cannot lead to anything interesting without a vision. I use a lot of different electronic devices when I create music, but I'm not really into updating the latest software and keeping track of all the possibilities, it's basically all about what kind of ideas you have and how you use the stuff, no matter how high or low tech it is. One of my favourite instruments is my analogue dictaphone.

- I don't see myself as a representative for any specific scene in arts today, my work is far too diverse and messed up.

- I think people in the western world in general suffers from the danger of being bored to death despite the ever growing entertainment industry.

- In general people interest me, and since music is for me all about communication, it requires an open minded attitude both from the audience and myself.

- Human nature is so different, and it's not up to me to try to make people react in any specific way, I have to give something that can be perceived in many ways, avoiding to become too private. Private is not interesting, personal however, is another issue.

The performance of Aus den Sieben Tagen was a coproduction between the Sonic Arts Network and BBC Radio. The entire concert was sent over the radio. Perhaps it will be released soeday. Was very exciting!

Frode har faatt en svärt positiv anmeldelse i Morgenbladet, se her
! Men hva har egentlig den kommentaren om meg der aa gjöre? Syns det er skikkelig ekkelt... Hva er motivet? Slik jeg ser det er det ikke mange alternativer: 1. Journalisten syns jeg faar alt for mye oppmerksomhet, og 2. at det skyldes maaten jeg framstilles paa paa bilder. Og 3. at han maatte finne paa noe subjektivt böll for aa kunne höste ovasjoner for sin frekkhet, det holder jo ikke lenger at en anmelder bare skriver om musikk. Vel, uansett sender jeg en stor hilsen til alle som leser norsk fra Österrike, hvor jeg er i full gang med aa innstudere et nytt verk med Klangforum Wien, kanskje verdens beste samtidsorkester! De har visst ikke jobbet med noen norske för. Det er fryktelig spennende! (Og blir garantert forbigaatt i norske medier. De er jo generelt ikke interessert naar jeg gjör noe saa uspektakulärt som aa skrive et partitur.) Norske bokstaver kommer senere...

the author of the phantastic books about Pippi Longstocking and the major source of inspiration for my group SPUNK is dead, 94 years old. She died quietly in her home in Sweden. Her impact on millions of children will live on!
